Once I had joined a crew of a galleon called “The Mad Gryphon”. It was quite a small gig but they had this unique system of rotating the role of captain around.
Each sunrise the captain would change and a new stallion would stand at the helm.
Let’s just say nothing ever got done on there and when something did get done, it took a long while for it to go through

I think instead of worrying about how the ship is going to travel, we should worry about what we're going to do with the ship. What's our objective?
It doesn't matter if we get the ship up into the sky - at least, it doesn't matter if there's zero reason why. We have to do something with that.
I believe that making a neutral trading ground for other ships is an excellent idea, yes - but even better than that would be encouraging trade from other ships.
